Pick your trade from the dropdown and the form fills in typical line items for that type of work. HVAC gets service calls, diagnostic fees, and part replacements. Plumbing gets fixture installs, drain clearing, and pipe repair. You get the idea.
Edit the quantities and rates to match the actual job, add or remove lines as needed, and fill in your business info at the top. The math updates automatically.
When you're done, hit "Preview Invoice" to see what the client will get. Print it directly or save as PDF through your browser's print dialog (choose "Save as PDF" as the destination).
The basics: your business name and contact info, the client's name, a unique invoice number, the date, and a clear due date. Spell out what you did with specific line items rather than one lump sum. Clients pay faster when they can see exactly what they're paying for.
Add payment terms in the notes section. Net-30 is standard for commercial work. Residential jobs usually expect payment on completion or within two weeks.
Sales tax on services varies by state and sometimes by city. Some states don't tax labor at all, others tax it the same as goods. Check your local rules or ask your accountant. The default here is 0% so you don't accidentally overcharge anyone.
